O manifesto denuncia uma visão deturpada da história do Rio Grande do Sul, que conseguiu se institucionalizar e se impor de forma não republicana, mitificando uma idéia falsa da figura do gaúcho. De fato, devo dizer que cresci vendo os CTG's repetirem, até mesmo na sua estrutura hierárquica, as formas de dominação das estâncias escravocratas do Século XIX, e todos os preconceitos característicos daquele tempo e de um conservadorismo tacanho que ainda hoje mantém tremenda força no Rio Grande do Sul. Todo CTG, saibam, tem na topo da hierarquia um "patrão" (sim, esse é o nome pela qual se designa o representante do CTG).
Apenas para exemplificar, um dos CTG's da cidade de Canguçu, próximo à chácara de meus pais, onde eu costumava passar o verão, não admitia, até menos de dez anos atrás, a entrada de negros. Os negros assistiam os bailes da janela, sem poder entrar, participar ou dançar, em uma cena verdadeiramente macabra.
Na "cultura gaúcha", falseada e imposta pelos CTG's e pelos MTG's, nunca houve espaço para a diversidade étnica do povo gaúcho, e sobretudo, ficou esquecida a figura verdadeiramente contestadora e controversa do gaúcho da Bacia do Prata. Mas já falo demais.
